Seriously?!?Seriously.

Nine years. For 9 years we have been very blessed in the baseball world. We winter at home, spring somewhere warm and then head to wherever for the start of the season. I have baseball friends who have moved 5+ times in one year. I pitied them, and then went back to the latest novel I was reading, or nap I was taking. Then we got Buike and it got a little more complex, but he was a good traveler, so no sweat.

Then we had children.

January 12th, 2007 and February 4th 2009 are two of THE best days of my life. My girls are it. They are blessings beyond imagination. I literally enjoy every day with them. However, they have a lot of stuff, and they stink at packing.

So as I was packing yesterday for our trip to FL (again) I kinda laughed at myself looking back on how little we required for 2 adults and a dog. We even bought a car-top carrier for this trip, because the Littles don't like to be without their swings, and we like to keep the peace. We are a family, as long as we're together, we ARE home.

Then the Boss called.

His thumb is healing nicely, everything is going according to plan, but we may not be going to FL. Just in case, though, keep packing.

Um, okay.

The thing is, I know better. I have been a baseball wife for nine seasons. If you pack, you aren't going, if you don't, you will. Thats the way the baseball world works. So press on we did, until 11 pm when I had to go to bed before the babies decided it was time to party.

Then we got a text.
At one a.m.
"Stay in ky until next doc appoint".
That's 3 weeks away.

Poor Lainey...she's never going to be potty trained. But at least she has a really cool "spaceship" to ride in with her posse.

I have a plan

Unfortunately for my family, I tend to procrastinate. Sometimes it's not a problem, but for Lainey it may be catching up with her. The child has yet to start potty training and I am to blame. First it was because I was pregnant with twins and I blamed my big belly for not putting her on the pot. I tried to tell myself that she would regress once the babies got here, and the pedi agreed, so I felt okay about it - like I was doing her a favor. Then the littles arrived and it was all I could manage to simply get a shower once a week. There was not a chance in the world that I was going to be able to get her little heiny in the bathroom every 30 minutes. Once things got a little less crazy I told the Boss we would totally get going with project potty when we got to wherever we were going for the baseball season.

It was a lovely 4 days in Buffalo.

And now as we plan to drive to FL (again), I am determined that this time we will go with gusto (pun intended). We will be gone for 5 weeks and when we return Lainey will be in big girl panties. Oh and I purchased a Jillian (from the Biggest Loser) work-out video, after I stopped at Taco Bell. So to recap, L will be in panties and I will have abs of steel, if I get around to it.

well, crap

just a small rant, but did you realize that pampers is "giving" away free stuff? There are these codes on all the packages that you enter into their website and when you have enough you can exchange your points for exciting things like books, free photos and candles. I really could use candles, what with all three girls in diapers. Can't believe I didn't notice this fine print until now, two years of poop down the drain. Literally.

From the time the babies were born, I had been mentally preparing myself for the big roadtrip. You know, the one we do at the start of every baseball season to whatever destination the baseball head honchos determine our family will be calling home for the season, give or take a few days, weeks or months. So when the Boss hurt himself near the end of spring, we were bummed, thinking that it would be even longer before we got to see him. But then, we had a stroke of genius (!) - how hard could it be to drive to Florida? Weren't we getting geared up to drive just as far, but in the opposiste direction? Really, the only thing that changed was the contents of the bags, swimsuits rather than the snowy version and toss in some flip-flops (sandies, as L calls them) - you're good to go! The idea of the trip was good, the reality was, um, entertaining. Three sweet babies, one nana, and plenty of caffeine and I was good to go. There was traffic, 5 hours of rain with malfunctioning wipers, pee and puke (so sorry, nana) getting lost in the Atlanta airport (don't ask), and getting a little too personal with the kind officer who was trying to help us get into the locked condo (sorry sir, babies got to eat!)......It was truly all worth it, for moments like these....................................
